Hammertoe Treatment

Bunions and hammertoes are common conditions causing deformities in the feet. Often the result of muscle disorders, injury, arthritis, abnormal walking habits or other factors leading to swelling and discomfort.  A bunion is an abnormal bony bump at the base of while a Hammertoes refers to a crooked, deviated or contracted toe, yielding an abnormal bending of the little toes.

These conditions create trouble walking, especially when wearing shoes. Bunions and hammertoes usually worsen over time making early treatment essential.

Curing bunions and hammertoes depends on the severity of the condition, but may range from changing shoes and applying ice to performing physical therapy and even surgery for severe cases. In extreme conditions surgery is required where a small section of bone is removed from the foot fusing together the joints in the toe.  We can determine the best treatment option for you after a thorough evaluation.
